Today's Law School Admissions Update

Since yesterday’s update, the state of New York has cancelled the July bar. That’s serious, because a lot of people won’t be able to practice law until they’ve passed the bar. The state bar is apparently rescheduling the exam for sometime this fall.

So while LSAC believes that it will be able to administer the LSAT online this summer, I’m starting to think that’s delusional. And while some colleges are going test-optional as a result of the virus, law schools could only do that with the blessing of the ABA, which imposes the testing requirement. Something will have to give.

In related news: We’ve had clients who told us that they tried to register for the at-home GRE but were told that anyone who needs accommodations won’t be able to do that yet. Grrrr. The equity issues are staggering.

This coming cycle is going to be a wild ride.
